My mom passed away on
August 22, 2008 about 2:30am she was 75.
She had fallen and broke
her left femur on August 14th and taken to the hospital and found that it was
pathologic femur fracture
due to cancer.
We also found that she had cancer
lesions throughout her body. She refused cancer treatment, so only her leg
was worked on. After surgery to
to repair her leg, the doctors
told me she would not live if they removed her air tube. My wife Christina
and I spent some time with her and gave her our last kisses.
Doctors removed the tubes around
4pm on August 20th and she decided to keep going on her own. I went to the
hospital on August 21st around 1:00pm when they moved her from ICU to a regular room, she
looked very comfortable and pain free, my last time with her I placed a pillow
under her left leg. She passed away early that next morning.
My mom was a strong woman, being
a single mom most of my life. She loved animals especially cats. She
worked 10-12 hours a day Monday - Friday, but always saved Saturdays for her and
I only. We would go to museums, parks, shopping, work in our yard, I did
not care as long as we were together. She was my MOM and she was my DAD.
As far back as I can remember she
was working at the Sunset Club in San Francisco. My mom loved and was
loved by everyone who got to know her. She had a hard shell on the outside
(now I know why), but a heart of gold on the inside. She did not see color
lines or judge people, she would accept everyone for who they are.
In my mom's business she had to
smile even when she was sad, and laugh even when she was mad. My mom was a
people person, she would always listen to peoples problems. My mom was my
best friend, protector, and guide.
Her wishes where to be cremated
and spread out in the bay. She was the most awesome mother
someone could ask for. I WILL FOREVER MISS HER!
A HUGE THANKS TO
MY WIFE FOR ALL HER SUPPORT, AND FRIENDS AND FAMILY FOR THEIR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS.
SPECIAL THANKS TO THE
STAFF AT UC
DAVIS FOR THE GREAT SERVICES AND THE COMFORT THEY GAVE TO MY MOM
Here are some
photos of her from childhood to the 80's, I will scan and have more photos up
soon.
